Last week the Annual APRA Music Awards went down in Melbourne. The Awards decorarte Australia's best songwriters, composers and publishers. Apart from being a rad party it's a chance for peers to recognise some of the great writing in this country.

Never Ever Fall Asleep In A Tattoo Parlour!

Kimberley only wanted a little tattoo. A present from her father. However, she fell asleep during the work. While dad wandered the streets eating ice cream - the Artists was at work. She woke to find 56 stars inked on her face. Ouch! She is Suing the Tattooist 9,000 Euro for laser treatment

As If Andy Warhol wasn't busy enough...In 1986 he directed and appeared in a clip for The Cars.

"Hello Again" features warhol as a Bartender. It also features stop motion toy cars driving over a naked Lady. After hearing the music of Curiosity Killed the Cat he went on to direct & again appear in their clip for "Misfit". In a Dylan style (Subterranean Homesick Blues) card dispensing routine. Some of his final work before passing away in February 1987.

1979 at the age of 28 Christopher Cross released his debut self titled album.

The album featured hits "Sailing" & "Ride Like the Wind".

It received 4 Grammy awards in 1981

And is considered one of the greatest 'soft rock' Albums of all time.

Back in '76 this guy was the bomb!

From the mid 60's to 90's Sam Hui was the King of Hong Kong's Pop & Film Scene. After China as we know it was formed in '49. Most of the Composers, Lyricists & Musicians packed they're bags and took off for Hong Kong. The Beatles arrived in 1964 and the demand for a local pop scene sprung. Canto-Pop arrived ! The music produced in Hong Kong flowed to SouthEast Asia and soon became a phenomenon. "The Golden Era" of the 80's saw producers covering Japanese songs with Chinese Lyrics. Partnered with Karaoke culture, and The HK Pop beast was unleashed - wonderfully syrupy maudlin pop-tasia!

Building something with someone you love

One of the great experiences one can have is building something with someone you love.
Whether it is a piece of art or a chocolate cake - It is a fine experience.
A fine example is a home. A true reflection of each individuals outlook, and the experiences that have made up that outlook comes out in your creation.
And then theres the shared outlook and the achievements you have together.

Well comforting time. That is the truth, comfort in time. The very things that concern me now - tomorrow will be folly, points of laughter even. I have fallen foul to concerning myself with small fry as it we're. However, pending father hood has seemingly enlightened me to a new planes of concern - or lack of.

The things that even last month seemed so important today are insignificant - to the point of laughter. Its a refreshing new outlook, I'm not really the guy who worries to much about things anyway, well at least not consciously. I prefer to get involved and concern myself with the outcome when it comes. This philosophy has pretty well supported me throughout my life, and enabled me to achieve things I perhaps would still be wondering about. However, in matters that are concerned with the legal framework of society ie: the law, I am learning that some careful planning and advice from experience is well worth the time.

I have kept a journal in the past, the nature of a personal journal is that there
is an implied privacy to the content. This is not the case with a public blog,
I am going to try and pretend this is a private document and bravely share my deepest realms. But a footnote for myself and for others reading is this...life is not a static adventure, feelings emotions ideas and philosophies change from year to year week to week moment to moment second to second - what may be the truth
now probably won't be in ten minutes. The universe is perpetually
unfolding and sharing new perspectives with us.
